Porcelain Dental Veneers
|
Porcelain dental veneers are extremely thin, tooth-coloured shells or laminates of porcelain that are bonded onto the outside surface of your teeth. A fantastic analogy of the porcelain veneer concept is the idea of fake finger nails which are bonded onto your own finger nails to hide imperfections or improve their appearance. |
 |
Porcelain dental veneers are often used to achieve that perfect ‘Hollywood smile’ many people have always desired.
Porcelain dental veneers can be used to
-
change the shape and colour of teeth
-
mask discolourations and stains
-
restore chipped and worn teeth
-
as an alternative to orthodontics to close spaces and straighten crooked teeth
-
correct teeth that are rotated
-
close gaps
As porcelain is a glass, it has optical properties that most resemble your tooth’s enamel. Porcelain is the most ‘tooth-like’ dental material available to dentists.
The placement of porcelain dental veneers requires two chairside appointments. The first appointment will involve a very slight preparation to the outside surface of your tooth. This is necessary to make room for the veneer. A cosmetic consultation will then be made with my dental ceramist Mr Peter Vryonis who is located in Melbourne. Peter is a highly sought after, respected and credentialed dental ceramist who will discuss with you all your expectations, the result you would like to achieve and select the desired shade in which to make the dental veneer. At the second chairside appointment the dental veneer is then cemented into place to complete your new amazing smile.
