Dental Injuries
Teeth can be displaced in several directions
Dental intrusion
– the tooth is pushed further into the bone such that the tooth looks shorter or may even be absent.
Dental extrusion
– the tooth is removed from its normal position in the socket and looks longer than the surrounding teeth but has not completely come out of the socket.
Lateral luxation
– the tooth has been displaced sideways, inwards or outwards.
Dental avulsion
– the tooth has completely come out of the socket.
The treatment of dental injuries to primary teeth is different to the treatment for permanent teeth.
